What is the difference between iPhone 6 and 6s?

Although our site is dedicated to the Android operating system, we simply can’t talk about Apple’s mobile devices built on the basis of iOS, since these are the two most popular mobile operating systems. Today we’ll talk about how the iPhone 6 and 6s differ.

Design and appearance

As for the appearance, if you take both smartphones in your hands, it doesn’t matter what model it will be – 6 (6s) or 6 Plus (6s Plus), then you will not notice the differences. And why? Yes, because there are practically no external differences between smartphones.

Practically? Yes, practically, because there are still a couple of differences, and one of them is very significant – this is the color of the case. If for iPhone 6 and 6+ only two colors are available (silver and “gray space”), then for 6s and 6s + – four at once, including the same silver, “gray space”, as well as gold and “pink gold”. Accordingly, if you see a golden or pink sixth “iPhone”, then you have a model with the prefix S.

The second difference is extremely insignificant and few pay attention to it. We are talking about the inscription on the back cover, where the letter S is in the square.

In terms of dimensions, there are no changes – the same width, height, width … But this does not concern the mass, since the models with the S prefix have become heavier by 20 g. However, this can only be noticed if you hold the smartphones alternately in your hand.

3D touch

In the case of screens, there were no changes, if you do not take into account the innovative 3D Touch system, which appeared on the 6s and 6s + models. This is a technology that allows you to recognize the force of pressing the screen and thanks to this, it opens up various settings for a particular application. For example, with a weak press, a list of useful options will open, and with a strong press – already a complete menu. This technology helps to manage the device much more efficiently, and also allows the user to quickly find the necessary menu items..

But this is the only change regarding the screen..

Touch id

The “upgraded” devices use a second-generation Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which allows for even faster authorization.

The new models use the new and more powerful Apple A9 processor against the Apple A8, and the amount of RAM doubled immediately – from 1 GB to 2 GB. Say a little by modern standards? In general, yes, but only if we talk about “dry” numbers. The truth of life is that the optimization of Apple’s mobile devices is so good that it does not require a lot of RAM, leaving behind even some of the smartest Android devices.

Both cameras have changed – front and main. Selfies can now be taken using a 5-megapixel camera, which is enough for self-portraits (previously a 1.2-megapixel camera was used). Also, a Retina flash appeared in front – this is when the screen acts as a flash.

The main camera has a resolution of 12 MP. However, “dry” numbers mean nothing, because the photos are very high quality. The difference between photos 6 and 6s – at the level of nuances.

6s and 6s Plus support 4G LTE Advanced technology, the theoretical connection speed at which can reach 300 Mbps versus 150 Mbps on “pre-styling” models.

Also, the maximum speed increased when working with wireless Wi-Fi networks – up to 866 Mbit / s against the previous 433 Mbit / s.

What to choose?

Of course, the 6s is better and more advanced, but is it worth the overpayment? It is up to you to decide. The 6s piggy bank includes a new processor, increased RAM, 3D Touch. IPhone 6 is cheaper.
