The PIN code on the new SIM card is usually disabled by default, that is, you do not need to enter it when you inserted the card into the smartphone. On the one hand, this is convenient, on the other, nothing will happen if you enter 4 digits, because the safety of your funds is at stake. If a SIM card without a PIN code falls into unnecessary hands, who knows what they can do with it … Therefore, we advise you to always set a PIN code. Let’s show how it is done on Android smartphones.
Open the Settings app.
Go to the section “Security and Confidentiality”.
Next – “Advanced Settings”.
Here is the line “Encryption and Accounts”.
Tap on the item “Set lock”.
And select for which SIM card you need to set a PIN code. Let’s say this is the first SIM card – turn the switch in the line “SIM card lock” to the “On” position.
And now an interesting point: you need to add the pin code that is listed on the kit that came with the SIM card. As a rule, the factory pin code is simple – like 0000 or 1234, but you better get it from your operator.
The SIM card lock is installed, but in this case the factory PIN code is used. To change, click “Change SIM PIN-code”.
Indicate the old pin and new two times.
Done. Now, when you restart your smartphone or after you insert your SIM card into any phone or smartphone, the system will require you to enter a PIN code.
By the way, if you have a different menu (in the example – EMUI firmware for Honor / Huawei), use the menu search for the keys “pin”, “security”, “lock” (the request is indicated without quotes) to find the desired section. And by the way, the operator does not play a role – this instruction is suitable for Beeline, MTS, Megafon, Tele2, etc..
