What is the difference between iPhone 8 and iPhone 7?

In September 2017, Apple held a very large-scale presentation, at which two versions of the iPhone were presented at once – iPhone 8 (iPhone 8 Plus) and iPhone X. Today we will tell only about the differences between the new iPhone 8 and now not the newest iPhone 7.

I would immediately like to note that the devices do not differ so much – at least externally. In general, in such cases, Apple usually gives the model the prefix S and continues to release the smartphone for another year – as it was before. But now the smartphone decided to give a new name.

Now let’s talk about the main differences between these smartphones..

Dimensions, housing

We will begin, of course, with the appearance: if you look at the new iPhone 8 from afar, it will not immediately become clear what is new in the case. Therefore, we suggest you come closer to the device and consider it – in this case, the differences will be much more noticeable: the back of the new case is again made of glass (here you can recall the iPhone 4 and 4S).

Is this good or bad? In fact, everything depends entirely on your taste. In our opinion, with the new case the iPhone began to look more interesting and even more noble.

And here is another very important change – the presence of color shades. For iPhone 7, as many as 5 colors are available: silver, gold, dark gray (almost black), pink and Black Onyx (black with a gloss). For the new iPhone 8 – for some reason, only three: “space gray” (almost black), silver and gold.

There were no differences on the front of the case. Dimensions have literally changed to a few millimeters.

Wireless charger

One of the main new features of the iPhone 8 is, of course, wireless charging. Actually, they were waiting for her in the last generation of the iPhone, but she appeared only now, which, however, cannot but rejoice.

Beginner supports Qi-style chargers. Of course, there is a proprietary AirPower wireless charger, but at the time of writing, its cost is unknown.

Another important feature is support for fast charging: in just 30 minutes, iPhone can charge up to 50%! True, there was information that the standard equipment of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will come with the same cable and memory that are used on older models of the company, they do not support the ability to quickly charge the device. Therefore, the user will have to purchase a charger with support for fast charging for a fee.

New processor

The new processor installed in the iPhone 8, called the A11 Bionic. By the way, the same processor is installed in the more expensive iPhone X.

We will not talk about what’s new in it (it’s boring and boring), we will only say that, according to the manufacturer, the A11 Bionic is significantly more effective than its predecessor. He is quite capable of coping with any tasks in the next few years. This, by the way, is already confirmed by the so-called “synthetic” tests, where a beginner takes 1-3 places.

True tone

True Tone is a technology that has been tested on the iPad Pro, and now Apple smartphones have received it..

True Tone is a special adjustment of the color rendition of the display depending on the ambient lighting user. The system allows you to make colors the most natural and comfortable for the eyes..

Battery capacity

Surprisingly, the battery capacity has decreased compared to the previous generation. Compare for yourself:

  • iPhone 7 – 1960 mAh
  • iPhone 7 Plus – 2900 mAh
  • iPhone 8 – 1821 mAh
  • iPhone 8 Plus – 2675 mAh

However, there is no need to worry about this, since autonomy has remained unchanged through the use of a new energy-saving processor.

New cameras

Changes to the cameras are small, even the notorious resolution has not changed. In the younger model, a new Slow Sync flash function is available, video recording has improved.

The older model iPhone 8 Plus has a new feature “Portrait Lighting”, improved video capabilities, a new flash True Tone Quad-LED.

All the major new chips went to the older model iPhone X.

Memory

The choice of memory is scarce – either 64 GB or 256 GB. The “seven” – 32 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB.

Bluetooth 5.0

The new iPhone began to support Bluetooth 5.0. Well, so what, some will say? But here is: the data transfer speed compared to version 4.2 has increased as much as 4 times, and the devices can be located at a distance of 100 meters (!) From each other to transmit data! Very cool.
